Embedded Real-time Video Applications in HD

Embedded Real-Time Video

The addition of HD video to vertical embedded applications has long eluded designers for two main reasons, namely high bit rates and unacceptable long encode-decode latency. The ability to interact, aided by real-time visual feedback, with a remote object is an essential requirement in many vertical embedded applications, such as electronic newsgathering (ENG), surveillance, unmanned vehicles and manufacturing.

Super Low Latency Technology™ & Full HD

Our Super Low Latency Technology™ (SLL Technology™) makes it possible to cut video encode-decode latency down to sub frame-rates, down to sub 2ms. In combination with Full HD 1080p encoding and decoding, embedded real-time video applications in HD are no longer out of reach.

Full HD H.264 AV Codec Micro-Mezzanine Modules with SLL Technology™

The WW20BACM and WW20BADM bring together our Full HD video codec and SLL Technology™ together with an audio codec and MPEG-2 Transport Stream with DVB support in a convenient, off-the-shelf micro-mezzanine module. These modules drastically cut time-to-market for vertical embedded real-time HD video solutions. The compact size of these modules further eases embedding into cramped spaces.

The WW20BACM encoder module encodes 1920x1088 or 1280x720 HD video in H.264 format. Stereo audio input can be encoded in either Dolby® Digital Stereo® or PCM format. The 8-bit TS interface on the encoder and the decoder modules interfaces directly to external DVB-ASI or DVB-SPI transceivers. The WW20BADM module de-multiplexes and decodes the encoded audio and video streams for playback. Other interfaces present include a SPI and a UART interface. These can be used for an external host processor to control, configure and monitor the modules.
