W&W Communications does not make the video conferencing or telepresence systems, but we make the video codecs that make it possible for these systems to:
- Handle video at 1920x1080 and 1280x720 resolutions,
- Utilize available bandwidth efficiently, and
- Virtually eliminate any noticeable delay associated with video encoders and decoders.
The encoder efficiency results in bit rates low enough to allow video at 720p and 1080p resolutions to be carried over broadband connections for real-time communications.
Industry’s most efficient HD video conferencing codecs
The WW10000 is a single chip implementation of an H.264 Baseline Profile encoder, which supports full 1920x1080 resolutions for video conferencing and telepresence applications at bit rates and quality levels not achievable by incumbent MPEG-4 and H.263 video coding. The four available video input ports support multiple video streams. This multi-channel capability allows several camera angles to be captured simultaneously for participant, document and other video streams. The built-in adaptive noise filter reduces camera noise, therefore increasing image quality and encoder efficiency. The flexible CBR feature provides fine control over bit rate versus picture quality to support limited bandwidth transmission channels.
The WW10000 implements a complete set of Baseline Profile encoder tools, including 1/2 and 1/4 pixel interpolation and all luma, chroma and inter-frame coding modes. Skip mode support further reduces bit rates by not having to transmit static image sections. Built-in error resiliency maintains trouble-free video under less than ideal transmission channel conditions.
The WW10001 is a single chip implementation of an H.264 Baseline Profile decoder, which supports multiple HD decode channels. The four available video output ports support multiple video streams. This multi-channel capability allows several displays to be driven simultaneously and to have multiple streams appear on a single display head-end. Built-in error concealment maintains trouble-free video under less than ideal transmission channel conditions.
The WW10000 encoder and the WW10001 decoder achieve near theoretical performance in terms of bit rate versus quality. The different features of the WW10000 encoder and the WW10001 decoder are highly parameterized, allowing for factory customizations and dynamic configurations, while in-circuit hardware programmability eases upgrades with future enhancements. The WW10000 and WW10001 are optimized to keep encode-decode tandem delays below 35ms. This leaves plenty of room for the transmission channel.
